Boulder City’s Eldorado Droneport
The Aerodrome, LLC company has unveiled its design plans for the first-of-its-kind, operational commercial drone airport! Aerodrome has signed a 20-year lease with Boulder City and plans to construct 860,000 SF of permanent structures including a 15,000 SF terminal building, a research and development facility, warehouse, hangar, office, and training facilities on 50 acres located 28 miles from the Strip, in Boulder City. Eldorado Droneport is privately owned, but will be open to the public, offering training for unmanned aircraft systems, provide Federal Aviation Administration repairman, pilot certification and testing, and a variety of educational, research and development service. The futuristic geometric terminal structure is designed to be lightweight, made with a durable fabric (similar to Bedouin tents), and hover over the sand, resembling a “white cloud”. Aerodrome has a tentative completion date of mid-2018 and plans to make Eldorado Droneport a central hub for drone training for private and public entities, while increasing revenue opportunities for our UAV community.
